The Lake County Civic Directory

Lake County runs on the work of dozens of organizations — the county and city governments, the school district, the hospital, the water and sanitation districts, the nonprofits doing everything from feeding neighbors to preserving the Tabor Opera House, the volunteer trail crews, the parish councils, the chamber. Most of this work is done by people you can meet, on boards you can join, in roles that come open more often than you'd think.

This directory is our attempt to make all of it legible in one place.

For each organization, we list the leadership, the board seats, and how to get involved. If you've ever wondered who runs a particular nonprofit, when the next planning commission seat opens up, or how to apply to the library board, the answer is probably in here.

It's built for anyone who wants to plug in — newer arrivals trying to find their way, long-time residents looking to deepen involvement, and the organizations themselves looking for capable volunteers and board members.

This is a living document, updated quarterly. Board composition and staff turn over faster than any directory can track, so treat what you find here as a starting point and confirm with the organization itself before acting.
